Volunteer Opportunity: Community Greening Volunteer Leaders needed in the Greater Toronto Area.

Grow as a leader in your community by joining Evergreen’s Greenspace team. as a Community Greening Volunteer Leader (CGVL). Working alongside staff, CGVLs will help run successful planting and stewardship events while engaging community members more fully.  Responsibilities can include speaking to and leading volunteer groups, welcoming, signing in and supporting community volunteers, setting out materials and preparing before the event, cleaning up afterwards, taking photographs, tweeting and blogging about our events and participating in the event itself!  Outreach events involve staffing Evergreen booths and engaging the public.  By helping lead in urban greening, you’ll be involving people in improving the health of urban natural systems in their neighbourhoods.
 
Currently looking for CGVLs in Brampton, Mississauga, Richmond Hill, Markham, Downsview Park and Oakville. Planting and stewardship events occur at various sites in the region, mostly on weekends and weekday evenings, depending on the site.   You’ll meet at the site location an hour before the event and stay for a half hour afterwards, (usually 2-5 hours total per event).  You’ll also get to help at Evergreen booths in the local community as needed.  You’ll need to commit to training plus at least four events during the season (at least 20 hours).
